Mani Rimdu festival is the great festival celebrates by the Sherpa people of Khumbu region which is falls on immediately after the October’s full moon day. The main attractions of Mani Rimdu festival are The Sand Mandala, The Fire Puja and The Mask dance of Monks. It consists of a nine days meditation sequence and ends with three days public blessing ceremonies which starts with the blowing of horns in the afternoon after which the abbot of the monastery accompanied by other monks chant prayers. The worshippers are blessed and given holy water and fortunate pellets for good luck and long life. An orchestra of cymbals, horns, flutes, and conch shells proclaims the start of the second day’s celebrations in which numerous Monks in colorful dress with masks perform dances. On the last day, Tormas (symbol of devils) are consigned to a sacred fire. According to the Sherpa belief if the Tormas are consigned to a sacred fire it ends the negative forces and invite bless. During this festival time Sherpa people around the Everest region and interested trekkers around the world gathered in Tehgboche monastery.
